Lock 51 (G&V Lock 52)

04/04/54 - Gard & Vodrey's 1952 book states that this lock "at its upper end, left side, has the only remaining wood gate on the Eastern Division". But in 1954, neither of Mr. Heidel's shots of Lock 51 show a gate. The other shot (not posted on the site) shows the interior of the the lock, past the gate area, shot from this same angle probably with a zoom lens since Bob says that he remembers that they were not given permission to get close to the lock. But could the gate be there out of sight of this shot?
