I need to say thanks to several
people who made this site possible:
• To my wife Candi for driving me to
photo shoots, and for putting up with all my time at the
computer.
• To Bob Heidel for entrusting me with
his father's slides of the canal and for his constant emails
of encouragement. And for his visit in April of 2004, driving
me all over the full length of the canal, from Glasgow to
Bolivar. I would not have got to the Western Division as
much as I did without him.
• To the late Richard Heidel whose wonderful
photos of the canal lit the fire under me to get this project
going.
• To the other folks who drove me to
and accompanied me on photo shoots: Steve Meek, Butch Seitz,
Brian & Kathy Shepherd, Ana Lewis, Boone Triplett, my daughter
Rachel, my son Andy, and my brother-in-law Jim Stimpert.
• To the landowners who gave their kind
permission for me to go on their land and photograph the
locks, especially
the Vodrey family.
• To Doug Bacso for answering so many
questions about lock numbering and locations.
• To Gerald Walker for loaning
me his canal materials, and for his tour of the Dungannon area.
• To the folks at the Canal Society
of Ohio who put together and led the 2004 Spring Tour of the
Western Division.
• To Terry Woods for his help straightening
me out on the Western Division.
