Lock 41, "Gretchen's"

March 2003 - This lock used to be so overgrown that you couldn't get a recognizable picture of it. Then it was trimmed, some would say "shaved", in early 2002 so that you can now see the lock in all its glory. You can also see the unfortunate damage that those years of tree roots did to the stone. I won't repeat the nonsensical ghost story of Gretchen even though the park service put up a sign at the lock promoting the story. My wife and I did however name our cat "Gretchen".
